Jakarta Police on Monday were investigating whether a body discovered by goat farmers in Tangerang on Sunday was that of missing university student Livia Pavita Soelistio.
The girl, 21, a student of Bina Nusantara (Binus) University, was reported missing on Aug. 16.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharuddin Djafar said the body was in a poor condition.
DNA tests were being conducted to determine its identity and an autopsy was being undertaken to ascertain cause of death, he said.
Cisauk Police Chief Kemijo said Livia’s family had come to identify the body but had decided to wait for the DNA testing to be completed.
However, he said, the clothing and general characteristics matched those of Livia.
The body was discovered in a two-meter-deep ditch.
